AstraZeneca Calls Off Launch of Bronchitis Treatment.

Jun. 28--Drug giant AstraZeneca halted plans to launch a treatment to fight bronchitis, after spending millions testing over 4,000 patients in 24 countries.
The Anglo Swedish group declined to say how much it had spent on the drug, although industry experts say it can cost up to UKpound 350 million to bring a new product to the market.
AstraZeneca, where Tom McKillop is chief executive, said Viozan, a treatment for smokers" illnesses such as bronchitis and emphysema, failed to maintain benefits in late stage tests.
