Orange County, Fla., to Reap Less Money for Hotel Tax as Occupancy Decreases.

Jun. 30--When Orange County Chairman Rich Crotty finished unveiling his general plans for next year's $2.5 billion budget on Friday, he had not even mentioned two of the potentially biggest money-gobbling projects facing the county: the expanded convention center and a new or renovated arena for the Orlando Magic.
When asked about the mammoth buildings, Crotty essentially said that he did not yet have answers.
Here's why:
Money for both the $748 million expanded center and a new arena, which could cost up to $250 million, would come from the county's share of hotel taxes. Right now, county officials simply don't know whether there is enough to go...
