South Carolina's Highways Rank Second-Deadliest in Nation.

Jul. 6--South Carolina's now the second-deadliest state to drive in, according to a new analysis by the federal government.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration re-evaluation of 1999 traffic statistics puts South Carolina in a tie for second with Wyoming. Mississippi remains the deadliest.

Although it isn't the kind of news that cheers the state's highway safety community, some thought the new ranking could help their cause.
