Two Chicago Medical-Care Giants Reach Deadlock over Payment Rates.

Jul. 26--In a snapshot of the growing struggles of managed-care nationwide, two Chicago medical-care giants have reached an impasse that could disrupt health insurance coverage for tens of thousands of area residents.

Advocate Health Care, the Chicago area's largest provider of medical care, Wednesday said it will terminate its relationship with the state's second-largest health insurer, United Healthcare of Illinois Inc., in a rift over payment rates to doctors and hospitals.
