Lakewood, Wash., Mall Gets New Owner.

Jul. 31--Developers who at first backed off buying Lakewood Mall have purchased it and plan a major remodeling that will take almost a year to complete.

After about a year's construction, the mall will debut with the new name Lakewood Towne Center.

MBK Northwest, a division of MBK Real Estate of Irvine, Calif., announced Monday it had bought the mall but did not disclose terms of the purchase. The mall had been in the hands of a Wells Fargo Bank subsidiary.

The company plans to tear off part of the mall's roof and recruit retailers such as Old Navy; Bed, Bath & Beyond; Michael's; Ross Dress for Less; and GI Joe's.
