Colonie, N.Y., Financial Software Company CEO Says Old Economy Basics Apply.

Aug. 1--COLONIE, N.Y.--The lessons of the old economy apply to young software firms, says Deborah C. Ryan, the new chief executive officer of IA Systems Inc., a financial services software developer.

Ryan took the helm of the 10-year-old company in June, replacing founder Eric Burnett, who agreed last year to step down after the firm was acquired by Securian Financial Group of St. Paul, Minn.

With 20 years of experience in managing and growing educational publishing, information and online businesses, Ryan said no company can get away from the basic premise that profitability matters.
