Waltham, Mass.-Based Venture Capital Firm to Launch Its Largest Fund.

Aug. 13-- Polaris Venture Partners is set to announce today that it is launching a new $900 million fund. The fund will be the fourth and largest for the Waltham-based venture capital firm since its founding in 1996, bringing its total managed assets to $2 billion. Fund III, raised in January 2000, was $800 million.
The news from Polaris further bolsters a report last week that venture money continues to flow in New England, even as fund-raising nationally is in steep decline.
Investments in US venture funds plunged 68 percent in the second quarter to $9.7 billion from a record $30.3 billion a year earlier. But New England appears to be holding steadier than the rest of the...
