Cheap Mobiles Kill Pagers in Thailand.

Sep. 11--Pagers, used for one-way communications, are falling victim to technological change after reigning supreme in Thailand for more than a decade.
With business declining, service operators are considering returning their concessions to the state, saying that they cannot compete against mobile handsets, which are now cheaper than ever before, or absorb the high operating costs.
Sutham Malila, the president of the Telephone Organisation of Thailand, confirmed that "some" of the four operators holding TOT concessions were looking to exit the business as their costs had increased and their customer bases had shrunk.
