Delta to Trim Express Line by Half at Orlando, Fla., Airport.

Sep. 27--Delta Air Lines on Wednesday said it will cut 13,000 jobs, reduce flights by 15 percent and slash its Delta Express subsidiary -- whose hub is in Orlando -- in half.

Orlando's dominant airline is the latest of the industry's top players to make drastic cuts in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Since those assaults, travelers have been reluctant to fly, leaving many flights virtually empty.

Already, major carriers have announced plans to eliminate more than 100,000 jobs as they try to stem the bleeding that threatens to hand the industry $7 billion in losses by year's end. Only discount carrier Southwest Airlines has not announced job cuts....
