Reading, Pa.-Area Catheter Maker Posts Earnings Decline, Sales Increase.

Oct. 2--Arrow International Inc., the Bern Township-based maker of catheters and related products for cardiac and clinical care, said Monday its net income for the fourth fiscal quarter dropped 3.2 percent to $11.9 million or 53 cents a diluted share, compared with $12.3 million or 55 cents a diluted share a year earlier.
Sales for the quarter rose 4.7 percent to $87.0 million from $83.1 million in fourth-quarter 2000.
For the full fiscal year, Arrow's net income rose 0.8 percent to $46.5 million or $2.10 a diluted share, compared with $46.1 million or $2.05 a diluted share in the prior year. Lower per-share earnings were attributed to a greater number of outstanding shares.
