Loss of AT&T Internet Service in Northeast May Be due to Transfer Problems.

Oct. 17--Some AT&T Broadband customers in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire have been without Internet service for a week or more after the company experienced problems in transferring customers to a newly installed server in Chelmsford that assigns Internet protocol addresses. A valid address is needed to gain access to the Internet.

A message on the company's toll-free service line said high-speed Internet service customers in those states may face "connectivity" problems. "Our AT&T engineers are working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible," the message says.
