Walt Disney World to Cut Back on Shows.

Oct. 18--Walt Disney World said Wednesday that it will close some of its shows on certain days because of the tourism slowdown.

Scaled-back schedules for such shows as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Beauty and the Beast at Disney MGM Studios will eliminate performances altogether on two days a week.

"This is an adjustment that is prudent in light of current business and economic conditions," said Bill Warren, a Disney World vice president.

He said that although Disney won't lay off performers and other entertainment employees, some might decline to accept transfers to jobs that are unrelated to the shows. "We're trying to keep as many people working...
