Health Insurer in Michigan Partners with Company to Sell Discounted Computers.

Oct. 24--HAP, the state's second-largest health care provider is following a trail blazed by Ford Motor Co. and offering discounted personal computers and Internet access to its employees, members and physicians.

Health Alliance Plan, second in Michigan to Blue Cross Blue Shield, has teamed with San Francisco-based PeoplePC Inc. to offer HAP's 600,000 members, 6,000 affiliated physicians, and 1,000 employees the option of purchasing a Hewlett-Packard desktop or laptop computer and Internet access. The offer starts Oct. 30.
