Corning Asahi Extends Closure of State College, Pa., TV-Parts Plant.

Oct. 26--STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--Corning Asahi Video announced plans to extend the temporary closure of its plant starting Nov. 5, but the plant manager said the East College Avenue television picture-tube manufacturer will definitely re-open in January.

The Dale Summit plant's 10-week closure will affect about 750 union employees, who will be out of work until at least Jan. 7.

When the plant does reopen, some employees will return to work, but 250 union employees will be on "extended lay off," said operations manager Debra Ballentine.
