94 Percent of American Airlines' Ground Workers Approve New Contract.

Oct. 27--Ground workers at American Airlines Inc. approved a new contract Friday, with 94.1 percent voting in favor of the three-year deal.

With the ratification by the Transport Workers Union, American now has two of its three labor groups under contract into 2004. Those unions represent nearly 55,000 employees.

The deal approved Friday covers about 16,000 TWU members who work as baggage handlers, fleet service clerks, meteorologists, dispatchers, flight simulator instructors, and technicians, among other jobs.
