Lockheed Martin Wins Pentagon's Joint Strike Fighter Contract.

Oct. 27--WASHINGTON--The Pentagon assured Lockheed Martin Corp.'s future as the nation's premier maker of jet fighters by choosing it to build the new Joint Strike Fighter -- the richest defense deal in history.

Lockheed's victory Friday in the five-year, winner-take-all competition with Boeing Co. -- expected for weeks in defense circles -- is valued at more than $200 billion over the next 30 years.

But it could be worth as much as $1 trillion before the JSF goes out of service in mid-century if future foreign sales and parts, service and modification contracts are considered, Lockheed officials said.
