Orange County, Fla., Officials Want Siemens Service Center.

Nov. 3--With Central Florida's tourism-heavy economy reeling, Orange County leaders want to spend $367,000 in tax dollars to help create 613 higher-paying jobs with Siemens Westinghouse Corp.

County commissioners next week are expected to approve the tax rebates -- which will be matched with $1.5 million in tax dollars from the state -- for Siemens to open a service center here.

While public money for private companies raises eyebrows among some, County Chairman Rich Crotty said Friday the deal is a good one.
