Nov. 4--DAYTON, Ohio--It's not by chance that Dayton keeps popping up in articles circulated coast to coast. It's the result of a subtle, but concerted $1.4 million marketing effort spearheaded by the Dayton Regional Development Alliance and two public relations firms -- Miamisburg-based Flynn, Sabatino & Day, and New York City-based Edelman Public Relations Worldwide.
In an attempt to get Dayton on the national map, Flynn and Edelman are constantly working the phone with media heavies, cultivating local sources for potential stories and waiting for that moment when a USA Today or Newsweek comes calling.
