Nov. 7--Aquila Inc., a Kansas City, Mo.-based energy generator and trader, said Monday its third-quarter net income totaled $37.2 million, or 37 cents a share, up 62 percent from $23 million, or 27 cents a share, in the same period last year.
Sales for the three months that ended Sept. 30 were $8.8 billion, up 10 percent from a year ago. Some of the growth is from increased services to clients seeking to manage energy costs in a period of volatile prices, said Keith Stamm, Aquila's chief executive officer.
Through nine months, net income totaled $187.8 million, or $1.99 per share, on revenue of $29.7 billion this year, compared with $55.5 million, or 65 cents a share, on...
