Restricted Airspace over Cape Canaveral, Fla., Expanded.

Nov. 9--CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.--Restricted airspace around Cape Canaveral is being expanded to better safeguard America's space program, the Air Force announced Thursday.

Airspace directly above Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station has long been off-limits. However, new, temporary flight restrictions broaden the boundaries to west of Interstate 95 and south of Cocoa Beach. The enlarged zone -- located mainly within Brevard County -- extends from the ground up to 18,000 feet.

Aircraft still will be allowed to pass through the restricted zone. But they'll be subject to strict requirements designed to make the planes easier to track: Pilots...
