New Edgewood, Wash., Council Majority Wants to Limit Growth.

Nov. 10--This week's election may put the brakes on growth in Edgewood.

If final election results hold, a new four-member majority could take control of the seven-member City Council. The new majority says the city's comprehensive land-use plan lacks sufficient growth controls, and they want to re-examine it.

Edgewood was the last sizeable community in Pierce County to complete a comprehensive plan under the 1990 state Growth Management Act. After five years of work, final approval came in June.

"There's no doubt there are corrections that need to be made," said challenger Sue Miller, who is leading Councilwoman Linda Burgess in the latest returns....
