Fort Worth, Texas, Official Questions Need for State Agency in School Inquiry.

Nov. 13--FORT WORTH, Texas--Fort Worth school officials are seeking an outside audit of a decade of construction projects, but school board President Gary Manny is questioning the need for the Texas Education Agency to become involved.
Following up on a complaint from former district administrator Gene Gutierrez, an official with the agency said it will examine whether state bidding laws have been violated.
The investigation of the district began last year with the FBI inquiry of the district's contracts with Brooks Contractors, a Fort Worth paving firm that has done millions of dollars of work for the district. Brooks has denied any wrongdoing.
