West Virginia University Foundation Sells Morgantown Property.

Nov. 15--Morgantown apartment building developers have bought the site of an ancient Indian village from the West Virginia University Foundation for $1.55 million.

The WVU Foundation tried to sell the site, on W.Va. 705 near the school's football stadium, to Wal-Mart. But local American Indian groups protested that nobody should build on the land where protohistoric Monongahela Indians lived a millennium ago.

Two local apartment building owners, Richard and David Biafora of Metro Properties, are involved in CMC Co., the company that bought the land. Neither could be reached for comment late Wednesday.
