Central Illinois Economy Continues Slowing.

Nov. 20--PEORIA, Ill.--The central Illinois economy continued to slow during the third quarter, according to a Bradley University report.
Following the economic downturn nationally, the Peoria-area economy has slowed five consecutive quarters, said Bernard Goitein, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at Bradley University, which compiles the Statistical Composite of the Peoria-Pekin Economy for the Journal Star each quarter.
Goitein said SCOPE indicators show the local economy has fallen to a level on par with 1996, but still exceeds economic figures of the early 1990's recession.
