Albertson's Grocery Chain May Consider Departing Florida.

Nov. 22--Analysts say Albertson's grocery chain, squeezed by hometown favorites Publix and Winn-Dixie, might consider abandoning Florida in order to focus on more penetrable markets.

The Idaho-based grocery giant has already announced a move to sell struggling stores nationwide to boost earnings, and supermarket industry analysts say the next step could be for Albertson's to surrender entire regions to its competitors. Albertson's has about 120 stores in Florida, but does not lead any market in the state.
