Safeway Chief Gives Rivals a Raspberry.

Nov. 23--With true Latin temperament, Safeway boss Carlos Criado-Perez launched a scathing attack on rival J Sainsbury, while extolling the "phenomenal" progress at his own supermarket chain.

"Sainsbury are not doing well," the Argentinian said, arguing that its sales growth is flattered by store extensions. "I'm not surprised their sales are up (6 percent) considering they have had appalling results for the last few years. We have been growing for eight consecutive quarters at over 5 percent."
