Nov. 28--By having press conferences almost daily, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is using a tactic that contradicts good crisis communication planning, Randy Baker said Tuesday.

Vice chairman of Thompson & Baker, a Memphis public relations firm, Baker spoke about "Crisis Communications 101" Tuesday as part of a series of free disaster planning and recovery seminars organized by the Memphis Area High Technology Council and BellSouth.

"I think Secretary Rumsfeld is cheapening his own presence," Baker said at a meeting room at Crew Training International. "By appearing on TV so much, he is literally undermining his own credibility."
