Merger Means More Local Jobs for Roanoke County, Va.-Based Advance Auto Parts.

Nov. 29--Beginning today, Advance Auto Parts shares will be traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol AAP.

Advance Auto Parts said Tuesday it will expand its presence in the Roanoke area, adding 234 administrative positions in Roanoke and Roanoke County at an average salary of $31,000 a year.

Roanoke County-based Advance Auto needs more workers to handle additional stores coming into the company's fold. The company closed its $267 million merger Wednesday with former Florida competitor Discount Auto Parts.
