Dec. 6--The City was last night bracing itself for a climbdown by "Ice Maiden" Carol Galley and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in the case brought by the Unilever pension fund after a bruising six weeks in the High Court.
There will be those who celebrate a comeuppance for Galley, including the Forte family, whose hotel empire was dismantled on her vote. Others will be horrified by the apparent decision of Merrill to throw in the towel.
