Foreign Company May Get Chance to Purchase Miller Brewing Co.

Dec. 7--Miller Brewing Co.'s corporate parent may be quietly entertaining inquiries from foreign companies that are interested in buying the nation's second-largest brewer, industry analysts said Thursday.

There are no indications that any sale is imminent, and global tobacco giant Philip Morris Cos., which has owned Miller since 1969, has said in the past that the brewer is not for sale. Miller has about 1,900 employees in Milwaukee and is one of the city's most visible companies -- both locally and throughout the world.
