Thailand Firm Enters Bookstore Field.

Dec. 7--Competition in the local bookstore sector is about to intensify with the entry of the Charoen Pokphand Group through its CP Seven Eleven convenience-store subsidiary.

The first of the new chain stores, called 7-Today Books and E-Square, opened recently at Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi.

CP Seven Eleven executives declined to discuss details of the new venture, but an executive of a local publishing house said CP would likely adopt a similar concept to 7-Eleven in terms of prime locations and retail expertise.
