Dec. 18--EVEN IN A DOWNTURN, THERE IS AN UPSIDE: Outplacement companies, which help big employers such as Nortel Networks and Alcatel find new jobs for laid-off workers, have been expanding recently in permanent and temporary space.
Lee Hecht Harrison, Drake Beam Morin and Right Management, among the country's biggest outplacement firms, need the space because of bigger contracts with tech companies that have been cutting workers this year.
"It's a sign of the times when my business is focused on growing outplacement companies," said Corporate Realty Advisors' Loren Kennedy, who has negotiated three leases for Right Management in West Raleigh covering...
