Dec. 21--Office Max, the nation's No. 3 discount office supplier, announced this week plans to close 40 of its 964 stores. But which stores will get the ax has not been determined, a spokeswoman at corporate headquarters in Ohio said Thursday.
Earlier this week, Office Max said sales surged unexpectedly midway through the fourth quarter, but analysts polled by research firm Thomson Financial/First Call are expecting the company to post a loss of as much as 10 cents a share.
Office Max operates two stores in Clark County and another in Portland's Delta Park area.
