Goldman Sachs Hires Chairman of Specialty Chemicals Group ICI as Adviser.

Jan. 1--City veteran Charles Miller Smith, 62, is to take on a lucrative new role as an international adviser with investment bank Goldman Sachs after retiring yesterday as chairman of specialty chemicals group ICI.
Miller Smith is resigning as a non-executive director of international bank HSBC because of conflicts with his position at Goldman, but will remain as chairman of Scottish Power.
Since joining the ICI board in 1993, Miller Smith, who became chief executive in 1995 and chairman in 1999, is credited with steering the group away from its traditional bulk chemicals business and moving into specialty products.
