November 2001 Saw Big Economic Plunge in High Point, N.C., Area.

Jan. 3--Economic activity in the Triad took the largest plunge of an ongoing nine-month slide in November, according to a monthly analysis of Piedmont trends.
The Triad Business Index, as compiled by University of North Carolina at Greensboro economics professor Don Jud, dropped by 0.6 percent during the month to a 132.1 reading. Jud was not available to elaborate on his report Wednesday.
The index reading hit a 17month low and has fallen 2.8 percent since the official onset of the recession in March.
