Comcast's Network Switch Nets Complaints from Detroit-Area Internet Users.

Jan. 3--It has been changeover hell since the weekend for some of the first 180,000 metro Detroit Internet users to be switched to Comcast's new broadband cable network.

Although Comcast officials said the changeover has met with few glitches for the "overwhelming majority of our subscribers," state officials and local municipal cable officials said they've received a steady howl of complaints.

"The calls are troublesome," said Leslie Helwig, the cable director for Bloomfield Township. "The common denominator is that people say they are unable to get adequate technical support from Comcast."
