Florida Landmark Communities Pitches Downtown Project for Palm Coast, Fla.

Jan. 5--The "town center" concept could be coming to Flagler County, where a developer wants to build a mini-downtown in the suburbs where people get out of their cars and walk to stores, restaurants, offices and residences.

Florida Landmark Communities Inc. is proposing to develop 740 acres for the town center in Palm Coast, a growing city along Interstate 95 that is home to almost 33,000 people, according to the 2000 Census.

The tentative plan calls for 3.5 million square feet of commercial and retail space, 1.2 million square feet of office space, 2,500 dwelling units, and 500,000 square feet of institutional buildings that might be home to...
