Hazelwood, Mo., Ford Plant Expects Restructuring Plan to Spare Them.

Jan. 8--Ford Motor Co. is expected to unveil on Friday a long-awaited restructuring plan aimed at returning to profitability.

While the plan is expected to include layoffs, analysts and labor officials don't anticipate that the Hazelwood plant -- where the Explorer sport-utility vehicle is produced -- will be affected.

Ford is under pressure to cut costs and reorganize manufacturing operations as it confronts its first full-year loss since 1992. Earnings for the fourth quarter and the year are scheduled to be made public Jan. 17. Analysts predict Ford will report a loss of nearly $900 million for the year.
