Pilots Union at TWA to Ask for Denial of Request by American's Pilots.

Jan. 9--The pilots union at St. Louis-based TWA Airlines LLC will ask the National Mediation Board on Thursday to deny a request from the pilots union at American Airlines to declare the carriers a single airline.

The objection is another bid by the Air Line Pilots Association to thwart an integration plan proposed by the Allied Pilots Association that would staple most TWA pilots to the bottom of a new seniority list.

The objection of the TWA pilots is being seconded by the International Association of Machinists, whose members would be affected by the ruling. The machinists union represents TWA flight attendants, mechanics and some ground workers.
