Jan. 14--The slowing economy and terrorist scares didn't keep consumers from dining out last year, and the National Restaurant Association predicts that in 2002 the industry will achieve its 11th straight year of real sales growth.

The trade group forecasts that the industry will post sales of $407.8 billion in 2002, up 3.9 percent for the year -- 1.4 percent after inflation.

Florida should match the national growth rate with sales rising to $20.7 billion from $19.9 billion, the Washington, D.C.-based association projects.
