Home Construction Stays Strong in Connecticut.

Jan. 18--Connecticut seems to have kept pace with the nation's resilient home-construction market.

The country's overall home building activity, which includes apartments and homes, rose more than 2 percent in 2001 from a year earlier.

While state figures are not available yet, an alternate director of the Homebuilders Association of Connecticut said Thursday that an informal poll among its members showed that the state's market remains strong.

"It's still a good market; it kind of surprised me," said Andrew LaSala Jr., construction manager at Cannondale Building and Design in Wilton.
