AT&T Loses Some Jobs in Orlando, Fla., Area, But Gains Others.

Jan. 19--AT&T Corp. notified about 70 Orange County workers on Friday that their jobs would be eliminated in two months as part of a nationwide downsizing. But the news came with a silver lining: The company plans to close a call center in New York City and move 70 of those jobs to Orlando.

The local cuts are coming from the giant phone company's Local Network Services division in east Orange County. AT&T is laying off about 20 percent of the division, which provides local phone service in various places across the country.
