Program Helps Diversify Nation's Business Professors.

Jan. 21--During a successful accounting career spanning 19 years, Liz Arnold Washington always had an image in the back of her mind.

She would picture herself leading a college accounting class, as Professor Washington.

An unusual picture, to be sure, since Washington is African-American, and fewer than 600 of the nation's 22,000 business professors are minorities.

Today, Washington is working on her doctorate in accounting at Rutgers University. She's well on her way to making her dream of teaching at a college come true.

"This is my calling," says Washington, 49.
