Weyerhaeuser's Acquisition of Willamette Creates Forest Giant.

Jan. 22--On June 24, 1998, Steven R. Rogel first uttered his $7 billion wish.
Shortly after jumping from the helm of Portland's Willamette Industries to rival Weyerhaeuser, Rogel told his former boss, Willamette Chairman William Swindells, that he wanted to buy his old company.
On Monday, Rogel finally got his wish.
Acquiring Willamette will allow Rogel, Weyerhaeuser's chief executive, to build the company of his dreams.
