MidAmerican Energy Goes to Court to Fire Iowa Union Worker.

Jan. 22--WATERLOO, Iowa--MidAmerican Energy Co. has gone to federal court to fire a union employee from Waterloo who left 5 million gallons of flammable liquefied natural gas unguarded for three hours.
Ronald Turner, who was responsible for monitoring the safety and security of the Waterloo natural gas plant on San Marnan Drive during the graveyard shift, abandoned his post for a family emergency last June 2.
Company officials fired Turner, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 499 appealed the punishment to a grievance arbitrator.
In December, the arbitrator, Jay Fogelberg, ruled Turner could return to work because of an otherwise solid performance...
