Indiana Gas Utilities Get Settlement Refunds.

Feb. 1--Indiana natural gas customers will share in an $11.7 million refund from out-of-state gas producers that improperly charged Indiana utilities in the 1980s.

The settlement announced Thursday by the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor affects a dozen gas utilities in Indiana and their customers.

Citizens Gas & Coke Utility, which has 262,000 customers in Marion County, already has received a $3.72 million refund from gas producers under the settlement.

The money will result in a $6.90 refund for the average Citizens customer. Citizens is asking state regulators for permission to distribute the refund over 12 months. So an average...
