Arizona Senator Discusses Benefits of Bill Stopping College Sports Bets.

Feb. 1--WASHINGTON--Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., predicted this week there will be more point-shaving scandals if Congress does not pass his bill to prohibit Nevada sports books from taking bets on college athletic events.

McCain said he plans to resurrect the NCAA-backed betting ban "sooner rather than later" this year by attaching it as an amendment to other legislation on the Senate floor.

He did not say what that legislation might be or when he might act.

"I predicted years ago that there would be more and more (point-shaving) scandals," McCain said. "There'll be more scandals because there's just too much money. You know it's not unlike campaign finance...
