EDS, IBM Hope Technology Expertise Lands Airline Security Work.

Feb. 2--Government plans for a gigantic database system to monitor airline passengers will create a wealth of big-budget contracts for technology companies that build and maintain the system.
The two companies who could see the biggest rewards are old rivals: Electronic Data Systems Corp. of Plano and International Business Machines Corp. of New York. Both are scrambling to win what could be one of their biggest contracts ever.
Several companies will supply components of the database technology, from biometric scanners to logic programs that help databases find relationships that aren't immediately obvious.
