Feb. 6--MANATEE COUNTY, Fla.--Teltronics Inc. has won a contract to sell up to $650,000 worth of information technology systems to the U.S. government.
The southern Manatee County-based telecom was awarded a schedule contract from the General Services Administration, the federal government's landlord and procurement agency.
Such contracts, according to a GSA spokeswoman, are not specific deals, but serve as a sort of "fishing license" that allow the contractor to secure work. Teltronics' schedule allows agencies to buy products and services, up to the $650,000 cap, directly from the company without competitive bidding each time.
