Feb. 14--If the Enron Corp. debacle teaches nothing else, it's that accounting matters -- and it's anything but boring.

Business school professors in Texas and elsewhere are using the Enron case to make their lectures more relevant and interesting. And they're expecting a renewed interest in the accounting profession as students begin to grasp its importance in the nation's financial system.

Daniel Carlo, a senior accounting major at the University of Texas at Dallas, has heard the jokes about his profession being populated by bean counters wearing green eyeshades.

But in the aftermath of the Enron collapse, the cruel joke is on investors who didn't pay...
